Wahikuli Park is also a County Park on Maui's west side off the Honoapiilani Highway, near Mile Markers #22-23. It's between the towns of Lahaina and Ka'anapali and its nickname is "Cop Shop", because the park is right across the street from the police department and post office. It's partially sandy and partially rocky, but it's a very large park, with approximately 8.3 acres. Wahikuli means "noisy place", and it's true. This beach can get a little noisy because it's so near the highway. However, the sound of the waves rushing over the rocks is more what you'll hear closer to the water. It's an excellent beach for snorkeling, boogie boarding, surfing, and swimming. There's plenty of space to enjoy your family as this is a child-friendly beach. The views of Lahaina Harbor are fantastic!
Since it's a County Park, the amenities are very good. There are three parking areas with plenty of covered picnic pavilions with tables, benches, and barbeque grills. There are three bathroom pavilions and three outdoor showers for your convenience. There are no lifeguards at this beach.
