Located on Maui's south side, this beach is at the end of Makena Road. Polo Beach is a lovely beach in one of Maui's most popular areas. The light brown sand isn't very thick and there are some rocks, but it's packed so the sand is good for walking and building sand castles. It can get a little crowded, mostly because of its location, but well worth going to. It's the perfect beach for rest and relaxation, or to do a little swimming or boogie boarding. The gentle slope makes it easy to enter the water. Snorkeling is also very good near the rocky points. However, when the wind picks up and the swells become larger, it's highly recommended to stay out of the water.
The beach is actually two crescents joined together. On the north side, you'll find the beautiful oceanfront Fairmont Kea Lani Hotel. On the south side, you'll find the popular Polo Beach Club. The Kea Lani is a luxury resort with suites and villas. While at the beach, take a stroll through their beautiful gardens. If you're looking for an outstanding meal, make reservations to dine at Nick's Fishmarket at the hotel. The food is wonderful and the service is unbeatable. On the other side of the beach is the Polo Beach Club, a Destination Residence, offering apartment living with kitchens and balconies overlooking the gorgeous turquoise water and Polo Beach.
There's plenty of parking and the amenities are very good. Showers, bathrooms, barbeque grills, and picnic tables are all available. However, there is no lifeguard.
