Tourists can see Kauai wildlife and plant life up close during this leisurely 2.25 mile hike. The trail begins on an old road and concludes with picturesque panoramas of the Makaleha mountains. The Kuilau Ridge Trail is one of the easiest hikes on the island. Nestled in a grassy clearing is a comfy picnic area bordered by the Ohi'a forest about one mile into the hike.
Follow Highway 580 through rural Wailua and the Keahua forests to access the trail head, which begins just before the parking area on the right. There is also another parking area close by in case the other is full. This trail also allows dogs, if they are kept on a leash.
