Hanalei center is much more memorable than the other shopping centers on Kauai. Its boutiques and restaurants are spread across several restored historical buildings in traditional plantation style. Nearly all of the stores are locally owned and sell exclusively Hawaiian made goods. Attractions include a surf shop (where you can also rent surfing gear), an organic food store (which sells fresh local goods), a gym, and the usual snack bars and apparel stores.
