Cove Beach is located on Maui's south side at the southern point of Kalama Park. It's one of the island's smallest beaches and is very close to South Kihei Road. Visitors park on the side of the road, but it's very convenient and only a short walk to the beautiful golden sand beach and crystal clear water. This is also where surfers learn to surf as the waves tend to be small. You'll find surfing instructors are available every day of the week. If you are an experienced surfer, you can rent a board and it will be delivered to you and picked up.
There are several condos nearby, so this is an excellent beach for the residents to use. The hidden cove nearby is a better place for swimming or kayaking, but not as good for snorkeling or diving. At Kalama Park, there are bathrooms, showers, picnic tables, two pavilions, a volleyball court, tennis courts, baseball fields, and basketball courts. There is also a playground, a public skate park and roller rink. There are no lifeguards, but stay near the beach, especially if you aren't an experienced swimmer. You'll enjoy watching the beginner surfers and kayakers for entertainment.
