Kuilima Cove on the north shore is considered one of the safest beaches for swimming due to a large reef that protects it from large ocean waves, creating an ideal location for relaxing in gentle ocean water.
As this beach is located close to a popular resort, it tends to attract many tourists and become very crowded. Most visitors come from Turtle Bay Resort itself; guests of that establishment tend to frequent this beach more than others. Turtle Bay offers free visitor parking; however, due to the tall resort buildings casting shadows over the beach area and diminishing sunlight much earlier than sunset.
Turtle Bay Beach can be easily reached via an access path through a grassy coastal part of the resort, with Kuilima Cove offering access. Kuilima Cove contains an exposed jagged reef which many like to explore; be wary as its sharp edges could cause injury if you slip. Also avoid visiting in winter months when waves will crash onto it making it unsafe.
