Barbers Point Beach Park

Barber's Point Beach Park was named in memory of Captain Henry Barber, whose ship the Arthur arrived on Oahu via its southern tip in 1796 before running aground near its southern tip while on its journey towards Kauai and China after loading up in Honolulu with supplies. Kalaeloa Beach means long point.

Barber's Point Beach Park does not provide ideal swimming conditions, with low limestone shorelines littered with shells making entry difficult and strong currents making swimming unsafe. Instead, this beach park is best known for its lighthouse as well as providing fishing and picnicking spots - its 7 acre park near an industrial area offers camping facilities during weekends at Kalaeloa Park nearby.

Along its entire length, this beach offers both sand and rocks; industrial activity nearby may sometimes send plumes of smoke or steam onto it when wind blows in its direction; nonetheless, facilities like bathrooms, showers and picnic tables exist along with shallow rock areas where fish may be seen swimming close by; in addition, you might even spot crabs scurrying about.
