Relive the dramatic series of events that unfolded on Dec. 7, 1941, during this daylong tour of Pearl Harbor, the USS Arizona Memorial, Battleship Missouri Memorial, Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum, and USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park. A key turning point of World War II, the attack on Pearl Harbor remains one of the most significant events in US history.

View film footage captured that fateful day, then walk in the footsteps of Gen. Douglas MacArthur on the USS Battleship Missouri (Mighty Mo) and see the remains of a Japanese A6M2 Zero that was part of the Pearl Harbor attack.

Accessible only by boat, the USS Arizona Memorial is the final resting place for the more than 1,000 crewmen who lost their lives during the attack and serves as a place of reflection. The tour culminates in a narrated drive through the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, Iolani Palace, Kawaiahao Church, Hawaii State Capitol Grounds, and Honolulu City Hall.

Tour Highlights

(* denotes stops made)

  • Ford Island (drive-through) – Once used by ancient Hawaiians for a fertility ritual, this islet was the center of the attacks on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The island is host to many national memorials and continues to operate as the center of civilian-military interactions.
  • Downtown Honolulu – Keep an eye out for the beautiful golden statue of King Kamehameha the Great, Iolani Palace (the only royal palace in the United States), Kawaiahao Church, Hawaii State Capitol, and Honolulu City Hall.
  • Battleship Missouri Memorial walking tour – Walk in the footsteps of Gen. MacArthur and experience the battleship's most famous historic mission.
  • Pearl Harbor Visitor Center* – Welcome to Pearl Harbor, your gateway to American wartime history. Here you get to visit monuments and museums, see exhibit galleries and displays, and learn from Pearl Harbor survivors.
  • USS Arizona Memorial* – The USS Arizona Memorial is the final resting place for many of the ship's 1,177 crewmen who lost their lives on December 7, 1941. It is a place of contemplation, inspiration, and reflection. Please note: The USS Arizona Memorial is closed until March 2019 for repairs. Learn more
  • Battleship Missouri Memorial* – Meet Mighty Mo, the last battleship commissioned by the U.S. and the site of Japan's WWII surrender. Walk in the footsteps of Gen. Douglas MacArthur as you envision the battleship's most famous historic mission.
  • Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum* – View historical warplanes, fighter jets, and bombers, including the remains of a Japanese A6M2 Zero that was part of the attack on Pearl Harbor. If you look closely, you can still see the battle scars on the hangar from the attacks on Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941.
  • USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park* – Enjoy a narrated audio tour of the submarine (designated a National Historic Landmark) and learn about her wartime service. Explore the world of submarines in the museum and on the waterfront. Exhibits include weapon systems, photographs, paintings, battle flags, original recruiting posters, detailed submarine models, and a Poseidon C-3 missile that allows you to examine its inner workings. It is the only one of its kind on public display.
  • National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl – This beautifully maintained cemetery at Punchbowl is a memorial to honor the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces and who gave up their lives in the line of duty. This is also the final resting place of Ellison Onizuka, the first astronaut from Hawaii, who was in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
  • Iolani Palace – This majestic structure was the official residence of Hawaii's last reigning monarch, and it is the only royal palace in the United States. It features American Florentine architecture seen nowhere else in the world.
  • Kawaiahao Church – One of the oldest standing Christian places of worship in Hawaii, this church is often described as the Westminster Abbey of the Pacific. It was constructed from slabs of coral rock hand-chiseled by Hawaiian divers almost two centuries ago.
  • Hawaii State Capitol Grounds – Includes the Eternal Flame, the Korean Vietnam War Memorial, the Liberty Bell, and the Father Damien Statue, a tribute to the Roman Catholic priest who died after 16 years of serving leprosy patients.
  • Honolulu City Hall – Known as the Honolulu Hale building, the city hall is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the site of the chambers of the Mayor of the City & County of Honolulu and the Honolulu City Council.
  • Narrated Audio Tour at USS Arizona – Features the voices of Pearl Harbor survivors and noted National Park Service Pearl Harbor historian Daniel Martinez. Narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, daughter of actor and WWII veteran Tony Curtis. The audio tour includes the USS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, and the “Road to War” and “Attack” exhibit galleries and displays.
  • “Road to War” and “Attack” exhibit galleries – These galleries located at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center display personal memorabilia, dramatic photographs, artifacts of the battle, and more.
