Visit Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park, enjoy a Vineyard and Tea orchard Tour, BBQ Dinner and stay past sunset! Your tour will be fully narrated as you leave from our KapohoKine Adventures Store and drive through Hilo's quaint landscape as you make your way through black barren basalt to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Stops for exploring along the way include Kaimu Bay that's been filled with molten lava and the small town of Kalapana, which was completely destroyed by the advancing lava just a few years ago and has a lava viewing area you may go to. Keep an eye out and your camera ready if Pele is willing you will see current volcanic activity. A special stop is also made to the Painted Church. This was Saint Damien's first home in Hawaii. Big Island locals have moved this now decommissioned church twice when advancing lava threatened to destroy.
But the excitement has just begun, continue on to the Park where a trained park ranger shares the features that make this place so unique. Take in views of active volcanic craters and steam vents and visit the Jaggar Museum before visiting the Volcano Winery. Look forward to the private vineyard and tea orchard tour. Guests may either try a wine tasting or have their glass of wine included with the delicious BBQ dinner. Before going back to Hilo return to the park to search for volcanic activity as the sun sets.
